XPO Working Parents and Allies

Being a working parent is very common in our current society.  However, that doesn’t mean that it is easy.  With the multiple responsibilities of working and providing value for your company, raising children, community commitments and obligations and more, being a working parent can be challenging.  Add in the challenges of COVID-19 which has required many parents to participate in remote learning for their children, or finding alternate child care options, we can all agree that there can be a lot to juggle.

XPO is committed to providing world-class benefits for our parents.  We also realize that having a support system of other working parents to network with and share your stories, best practices and challenges is important.  That is why we have established our Working Parents employee resource group.  A forum for collaboration, relationship building and allyship.

Meet the Rivera Family

The Rivera family is an XPO Logistics family — its journey begins with the Rivera matriarch: Angie.

Back in 1999, Angie Rivera started her career with XPO at our Aurora, Illinois site as a customer service representative. At the time, her son, Jose Angel Rivera, was only four years old. Fast forward 21 years later – Jose Angel is now a driver working alongside mom and dad, Jose Ramon Rivera.

Before deciding it was time to join our fleet, Jose Angel worked at XPO as a dockworker for six years, once earning an Employee of the Month recognition for his excellent work ethic. Our driver training program set Jose Angel up for success by preparing him to join some of the best drivers in the industry. His graduation was celebrated by his family and team to mark an exciting transition.

In addition to Angie and Jose Angel, dad Jose Ramon joined us three years ago as a trailer mechanic. Today, Jose Ramon keeps our trucks running as lead mechanic.

Whether it’s Sunday dinner at home or watching the latest UFC fights together, the Rivera family is a unit inside and outside the walls of XPO.

XPO has launched “Grow at XPO,” an expansive program aimed at providing employees with a clear vision of the growth opportunities available to them within the company. While the program welcomes all XPO employees, it’s most intensely focused on frontline workers who aspire to grow into higher-paying positions with more responsibility.
